Drumming Workshops and Drum Circles

We have several workshops on Saturday afternoons, Monday evenings and Friday mornings available. Each offering different drumming opportunities:

 

 

Saturday 4th February 2012: BEGINNERS AFRICAN DRUMMING.

2pm – 5pm At The Foyer, Peter Street, Yeovil. £15 including refreshments: tea/coffee, fruit/cake. For beginners or those with little experience/confidence playing the African djembe. You will learn some traditional African rhythms using the djembe (hand drum) djun djuns (bass drums) and cow bell. All drum provided. Taught in a friendly and relaxed class. Drums provided.


Saturday 3rd March 2012:  Family Friendly DRUM CIRCLE.

2pm - 3pm At The Foyer, Peter Street, Yeovil.

£4 adults £2 children. (Children must be accompanied by a participating adult). All welcome. Suitable for all, easy and fun to do.

Lots of drums and percussion instruments provided.

Saturday March 24th -  Samba Drumming


2pm – 5pm At The Foyer, Peter Street, Yeovil. £15 including refreshments: tea/coffee, fruit/cake.

Energising, fun, uplifting and easy to do! All welcome.

A friendly and relaxed afternoon of drumming. Perfect as a one off workshop but also a good introduction to the Monday evening Samba drumming class starting April 16th. Please see below.

Why not come and try it?  You might just love it!!


Saturday May 19th -  Bodhran Drumming

2pm – 5pm At The Foyer, Peter Street, Yeovil. £15 including refreshments: .       tea/coffee, fruit/cake.

Taught by Bruce Johnstone-Lowe.  This will be the 3rd workshop we have hosted with Bruce.  Back by very popular demand.

Please be sure to book ahead as this workshop is very popular.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.

Drums available to borrow or bring your own.

New Drumming Workshops at The Nine Springs Natural Health

All sessions are from  7.15 pm – 9.15 pm


Drums are provided, or bring your own. Tea/Coffee included. Free parking at back of the building.

Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.  These workshops are taught in a friendly and relaxed manner.

All welcome.   Please book and pay up front as places are limited.


AFRICAN DRUMMING FOR BEGINNERS

4 week course. MONDAY evenings March 5th, 12th, 19th 26th. £40

 

Using the African Djembe and Dun Duns- (bass drums pictured)

this class is suitable for beginners and those with limited experience.

West African rhythms will be taught in a relaxed manner and with no pressure.

Drums provided or bring your own.

 

 

 

Samba Drumming-  back by popular demand!

 



6 week course. MONDAY evenings.


April 16th, 23rd, 30th, May 14th, 21st, 28th. £60 ( please note no session on May 7th due to bank holiday)

 

Fun and easy to do, participants of this Samba drumming class will learn some lively Brazilian Carnival Rhythms.

Very uplifting and energising.

Drums and percussion instruments of all shapes and sizes are available so there is something to suit everyone.

Refreshments included.

LADIES IMPROVERS/PERFORMANCE



DRUMMING GROUP

 


 

This class is open to ladies who have drummed with Organic Rhythm before.

Learning some new African Rhythms and songs with a few laughs and the odd Boomwhacker session along the way - this is surely the best morning of the week?!

There will be a small number of optional performance opportunities during 2012. Absolutely no pressure to participate in performances.

If you are a complete beginner why not come along to the Saturday session on 4th Feb.  ( Details above)

All held at St. Michaels Hall, St. Michaels Road, Yeovil.  Friday mornings 10 am – 12 pm.

 

  • 6 weeks:  February 24th, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th. £60
  • 6 weeks:   April 20th, 27th, May 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th. £60 (Practice for Royal  Bath & West Show 2012)
  • 6 weeks:   June 15th, 22nd, 29th, 6th, 13th, 20th. £60

Drums provided or bring your own.  Some parking at the venue, tea/coffee also provided.  Please book as places will be limited.

No Limits Drumming Project

Thank you to those who came to the No Limits Drumming Project.

We will be starting again soon, watch this space for further details!

Organic Rhythm is proud to be supported by D.O.T.S Disablity and Dorset County Council to offer a weekly day time activity in the Sherborne area of Dorset. This is a new community based project aimed at disabled people under the age of 65  who are in reciept of Direct Payments or Personal budgets, however all are welcome. Using hand drums and percussion instruments the No Limits Drumming Project offers participants a morning of inclusive, accessible, relaxing and therapeutic activities.

 

 

Suitable for all, regardless of ability, age or experience.

No Limits Drumming Project also offers a friendly and relaxed space for social interaction, to ease isolation and to have fun! Refreshments will be served too!
